Natural Sisal plants consist of a rosette of sword-shaped leaves about 1.5 to 2 metres tall. The sisal plant has a 7-10 year life-span and typically produces 200-250 commercially usable leaves. Each leaf contains an average of around 1000 fibers. Traditionally, Sisal has been the leading material for agricultural twine because of its strength, durability, ability to stretch, affinity for certain dyestuffs, and resistance to deterioration in saltwater. These properties are ideal for durable, natural and sustainable woven rugs.
Crucial Trading Sisal rugs do not build up static nor trap dust, so vacuuming is the only maintenance required. We would recommend having ITEC stain inhibitor applied to your rug at the factory. This ensures that every fibre is protected by a polymer shield resisting stains and dirt and helping to prolong the life of your rug.
